Leona Lewis: 'I Got You'

Leona Lewis missed out on a Brit again this year, but more striking than her loss to Lily Allen for the 'British Female' prize was the singer's complete absence from any other category. Neither her album Echo nor its lead single 'Happy' were able to snag a nomination, despite the likes of 'Mama Do' and 'The Climb' getting a nod. Could it be that for all her undoubtable vocal prowess, Leona Lewis just isn't getting the necessary support from the backroom boys and girls?
On the evidence of 'I Got You', it's definitely a possibility. That voice we fell in love with is still there, effortlessly slinking through the fragile verses and belting out the chorus with gusto, and there's definitely something endearing about the stark simplicity of the lyrics. Sadly though, and despite Lewis really putting in the effort, the production and melody don't do enough to distinguish the song from countless other MOR pop ballads of recent years. Her name and her voice will catapult this some way up the charts, but Leona Lewis should start looking for some more adventurous collaborators if she wants her music to have the zing that her talent really deserves

Leona Lewis Brands Harrods As "Backwards"

Leona Lewis has again criticised department store Harrods, because the shop still has fur clothing for sale.
Lewis has blasted the London store before and has now described it as being "backwards".
When asked if it was true that she turned down the chance to open their summer sale in 2008, the UK singer said: "Yeah they did offer me money to open the sale but I said no because they stock fur.
"They're one of the few places that still do it. I just think it's so backwards, it's very evil and cruel.
"I definitely stand up for what I believe in when it comes to animal rights."
Leona Lewis had a small victory earlier this month when organisers of the BRITs bowed to her pressure, by pulling foie gras off the menu at yesterday's event - after the 'Happy' singer vented her anger.
She was later applauded by PETA for her actions.

Leona Lewis boycott threat forces Brit awards to ditch foie-gras from menu

The animal rights activist was disgusted to find foie-gras on the menu because of the way the geese are treated.
As an ambassador for the World Society for the Protection of Animals, Leona has done a Sir Paul McCartney, by banning meat being served at her events.
Brit bosses have sheepishly admitted their mistake.
Leona, who is up for Best Female, said: "I'm delighted the menu has been changed - thank you." Let's see if she walks off with an award...

Leona Lewis hit Bleeding Love crowned most romantic song in Britain

Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis has been crowned the love song of choice for Britain's couples.
The X Factor winner's hit took first place in a poll of the most-played romantic tunes in recent years.
Second to Lewis's 2007 track was the Whitney Houston classic, I Will Always Love You, with Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On, from the movie Titanic, taking third spot.
Prs for Music, which collects royalties for composers, also dipped into its records to produce a "singleton's chart" of break-up anthems.
Katy Perry came top with her 2008 single Hot N Cold, beating Survivor by Destiny's Child and U2's With or Without You into second and third.
Prs chairman Ellis Rich said whether you are celebrating Valentine's Day or not, it was essential to choose the right music.

Leona Lewis' fur fury

Leona Lewis says people who wear fur make her "sick."

The vegetarian singer - who is a public supporter of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) - thinks it is disgusting the way the fashion and music worlds still embrace clothing made from animal pelts and the apparent resurgence in the popularity of fur.

Leona Lewis - who doesn't wear suede, leather or other animal products - said: "I think animals are treated very poorly. When I see people wearing fur it makes me so sick. Especially when I see young singers doing it - that sickens me. When I rocked up to my first photo shoot they had feathers and fur there and everything In despise. I had to make it so clear that I just do not go there."

Leona Lewis, 24, is also angry at the way young women are made to feel as though they should constantly be dieting and should look a certain way.

The pop beauty - who shot to fame after winning Simon Cowell's UK TV talent show "The X Factor" in 2006 - added to Live magazine: "There is definitely pressure to be a stick insect. Generally, in life, there is. All the magazines have tiny stick insects on their covers. But no one has ever said that to me. Everyone says I've lost weight but I don't see it. It's just eating healthily."
